Brandon Michael Herrera is a 21-year-old Mexican-American writer, director, and sound engineer based in Austin, Texas. Born and raised in El Paso, Brandon is passionate about telling stories that celebrate the beauty of multiculturalism and the complexities of the human experience. A fourth-year Radio-Television-Film major at the University of Texas at Austin, he has already made a mark with two short films recognized at film festivals across the United States, including The Student Film, which earned an audience award from ATX Showcase, a Best Comedy nomination, and a Best Sound Mixing award from IndieX Film Festival.
In addition to creating his own stories, Brandon works as a coverage writer for the Austin Film Festival and serves as a teaching assistant for Emmy Award winner and Motion Picture Sound Editor Korey Pereira. He also collaborates on professional sets as a production sound mixer and contributes to immersive storytelling through post-production sound editing and design. As Brandon continues to develop his voice as a filmmaker, he remains committed to crafting personal and meaningful narratives that reflect his Mexican-American identity, amplify underrepresented voices, and foster understanding across cultural divides.
